Drivers Alert! Central London: Avoid Wandsworth Road and around


Two people have been killed and 13 injured when a helicopter crashed into a crane in central London.
The helicopter had hit the crane on top of The Tower, One St George Wharf at about 08:00 GMT.

  2. Wandsworth is named from the Wandle River, which flows into the Thames near Wandsworth. Wandsworth is listed as Wandesorde and Wendelesorde in the Domesday Book of 1086. This means 'enclosure of (a guy named) Waendel,' which is also the name of the Wandle River.
